"MSME units condemn plan to hike power tariff"

Members of the Tiruchirapalli district tiny & small-scale industries (TIDITSSIA) have condemned the state government for increasing the electricity tariff from September. Stating that MSMEs are yet to recover from the pandemic-induced slowdown and subsequent decrement decrease in job orders, representatives from MSMEs urged the government to roll back the proposed tariff hike.

“A majority of the MSMEs in the district are operating from rented space, the recent hike in the property tax by the urban local bodies has made the building owners increase the rent. Now, an increase in the electricity tariff has come as a shock to many MSMEs unit owners,” ajappa, president of the TIDITSSIA, said.
